After an undesired outcome, most of us have our ‘off-the-shelf’ explanations. The entrepreneurs I work with want to understand things deeper.
Deeper can sound heavier: more factors, more mess. It works the other way. Every outcome grows from what was going on with you and with other people, circumstances and all the choices made. And from luck, too, in good and bad.
Named one by one, the factors stop being a fog and become information. Even the part that was pure luck tells you something: what no plan could have caught, and what a process could hold next time.
That clarity is the door. Better decisions come from it, and they come faster. Workflows improve because you can now see where. Nothing gets heavier. The table gets clearer and the progress smoother.
Take 10-15 minutes over the weekend to reflect these questions:
-
Which recent outcome, good or bad, got your ready explanation?
-
What else shaped it? (Look also at factors within yourself and how you felt, other people and what is going on with them, and the circumstances.)
-
Which factor is most worth acting on next week? Can you act on it by yourself, or do you need to involve other people?
What insights did you get? I’d love to hear.
