The letters

A weekly letter for founder-CEOs on the business and human side of running a company. The rhythm of reviewing, reducing and renewing. Each letter ends with three questions: reflect over the weekend, act next week.

2026

  • Measure backwards

Measured against the vision, progress always comes up short, because a vision moves as you move towards it. Measured from where you started, progress is fact.

  • Not all hours are 60 minutes

The same 60 minutes carries a different price depending on what you fill it with. Work that stimulates you gets more done and gives energy back; work that drains you costs far more than the clock shows.

  • Not deciding is still a decision

A decision left open does not wait. Separating why you decided from what keeps the decision open moves the "when" from the horizon into a plan you can carry out.

  • Deeper is not heavier

Exploring what shaped an outcome does not add weight. Clarity opens the door to better decisions, made faster.

  • Sorting the sure from the unsure

A hard situation is rarely one big unknown. Sort what you are sure of from what you are unsure of, and the decision becomes easier to make, the action quicker to take.

  • Business is never "just business"

Facts alone rarely hold the whole situation. Before generating solutions, explore three angles: yourself, the others, and the circumstances. Start with the one you usually skip.

  • A better way to judge your decisions

Judging a decision by its outcome has a name, resulting, and it rewrites what you learn. A simple way to separate the decision from the outcome.

  • Rest you don't have to earn

A true day off is 24 hours with no work-related thinking. Why rest comes before the work, and three things that make free days easier to have.
